The New Site Program Manager will work with the Director for New Site Development to manage the operations and activities of the New Site Cluster. YouthBuild USA manages its technical assistance work by grouping sites into various clusters that align with the stages of development of local programs and with their primary areas of interest or focus. Each one of these clusters is managed by a Cluster Leader, a specialized director who directs the strategy of the technical assistance services.
The New Site Program Manager will have responsibility for assisting the Director of New Site Development to coordinate the delivery of technical assistance services to a cluster of over 50 YouthBuild programs. These programs range from those in planning stages to those with up to three years of operational experience. The Program Manager will focus on providing program consultation services, coordinating the activities of the consulting team of contracted Program Advisors, providing regular written materials to the sites, and the developing and implementing technologies to track program outcomes and the success of technical assistance strategies
This position will also support the development of the program advisement skills of the consulting team through a variety of modalities and technologies. Finally, the Program Manager will assist the Director for New Site Development in creating resources and strategies to further improve the planning and implementation of programs, their outcomes, their sustainability and excellence.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide support and consulting services to local YouthBuild programs as a lead Program Advisor. Program Advisors work with a team of consultants and YouthBuild staff to provide support to a cluster of programs within the larger YouthBuild USA network. Program Advisors responsibilities with each site include:• Assessment of site needs;
• Coordination with program and Department of Labor Federal Project Officers and other representatives to design TA strategy;
• Provision of timely and relevant training and assistance;
• Coordination of additional resources within YouthBuild USA and in the local community;
• Evaluation of impact of technical assistance services;
• Oversight of technical assistance services to sites within the requirements of Youth Build USA’s frameworks, standards, outcomes and funders.Provide overall program management and operational support for the delivery of on site and phone technical assistance services to a cluster of YouthBuild Programs. The /Program Manager will work in partnership with the Director of New Site Development to do the following:
• Provide project management support for on-going New Site initiatives;
• Assist in the coordination of federally funded technical assistance work, including material preparation, briefings and debriefings on site visits, logistics and calendaring of consultant visits, spreadsheet development and tracking of consultant work flow;
• Implement a tracking system for site program outcomes and the collection of effective practices to support the design of dynamic content platforms in partnership with the knowledge management department;
• Work in partnership with the Director of New Site Development to review, assess and monitor quality of technical assistance work and to design strategies for tracking work consistency and quality;
• Coordinate the logistics of and assist in the planning of trainings and team calls for consultants;
• Develop and distribute resources on a regular basis to support new sites, such as newsletters and other electronic resources;
• Coordinate new site interaction and promotion of services with the Affiliated Network department;
• Monitor effective usage of systems and existing platforms by consultants working with New YouthBuild programs;
• Assist in the further development and management of New Site Development web pages;
• Coordinate with YouthBuild staff and consultants in the development and implementation of technologies to effectively support new YouthBuild programs and the consulting team working with them.Minimum Qualifications:
• A minimum of two years nonprofit or public sector management experience including experience as a program manager, program coordinator or department head;
• Knowledge of how to develop and maintain organizational systems,
• Knowledge and experience with federal government programs and funding streams;
• Extensive excel and database skills;
• Experience with Web 2.0 and other advanced technology skills;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and communities;
• Bachelor’s Degree.Desirable knowledge, skills, and abilities
• Experience as a nonprofit consultant or technical assistance provider.
• Experience working in the fields of youth and community development, workforce development, or alternative education.
• Experience with virtual teamsTravel required
